Software Engineer – Hardware & Windows Security

Team Red Dog is seeking a Software Engineer – Hardware & Windows Security to work with a Fortune 100 technology leader on the security foundations of modern Windows devices. This role involves designing and building secure boot, TPM, firmware, and cryptographic services that protect millions of devices worldwide.

Responsibilities

Participate in daily sprint execution, design discussions, and engineering syncs
Design, implement, and test low-level Windows boot and security components
Develop firmware and software for Windows boot processes and security processors
Implement and maintain TPM drivers and cryptographic functionality
Write, review, and debug security-critical code across OS, firmware, and driver layers
Contribute to feature development for next-generation Windows device security
Perform unit testing, system testing, and post-implementation validation
Troubleshoot complex issues across new and legacy production systems
Collaborate with cross-functional hardware, firmware, and OS engineering teams

Required

Hardware security expertise, including secure boot, TPM, trusted platform security, and device-level protection mechanisms used in Windows laptop and Surface-class devices
Cryptography experience, specifically encryption and decryption software development applied to operating systems, firmware, and security processors
Low-level Windows development experience, including firmware, drivers, OS boot components, and system-level security architecture
Strong C/C++ or equivalent low-level programming skills used to implement, test, and debug security-critical code paths
Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related technical field
5–7 years of professional software engineering experience
Strong foundation in computer science, including data structures, algorithms, and software design
Experience with large-scale systems software design and development
Hands-on experience troubleshooting, debugging, and unit testing low-level systems
Proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex security and system-level issues

Preferred

Prior hands-on experience specifically in hardware and platform security domains
Deep understanding of Windows internals, firmware, drivers, and boot processes
Strong working knowledge of cryptographic principles and secure code implementation
Comfort discussing security architecture decisions and tradeoffs in depth
Experience working with specialized hardware, prototypes, or secure lab environments
