Sports Facilities Laborer

NEOGOV is seeking a Sports Facilities Laborer to assist with the upkeep and maintenance of City trees, parks, grounds, and facilities. The incumbent will operate various equipment and perform essential duties related to landscaping and facility maintenance.

Responsibilities

Plants, maintains, and removes trees on City property
Operates brush chipper, stump grinder, mowing equipment, water tank with pump, bark mulch spreader, bucket truck, small tractors, front bucket loader, pick-up trucks, and other light equipment
Mows assigned areas according to schedule or as assigned by the Urban Forester and removes snow and ice from roads and pathways as needed
Removes trash and debris from parks, public areas, and cemeteries
Assists with special city and department functions by placing signs and barricades, and setting up and tearing down chairs, stages, and platforms
Assists with small construction and repair projects such as pouring and finishing concrete, minor electrical and plumbing repair, painting, and refinishing
Performs related duties as assigned

Required

High school graduate or GED issued by an accredited high school; or combination of education and experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of this position
Knowledge of arboriculture and landscaping
Knowledge of all applicable safety precautions and ability to apply such knowledge to daily operations and operating mechanical and power equipment and tools
Knowledge and skill in operating mechanical and power equipment and tools for arboriculture, landscaping, and light construction
Ability to recognize various types of trees and plants and associated diseases and pests. Familiarity with the use of chemical sprays, such as fertilizers, pesticides, and spraying equipment
Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle
Ability to obtain a Certified Driver's License (CDL class B) within one year
Ability to obtain a Certified Arborist status within one year
