Responsibilities
Acting as a trusted advisor to division leaders, translating complex financial data into actionable strategy
Driving the coordination and centralization of multi-divisional budgets to ensure transparency and long-term sustainability
Providing dedicated, full-cycle financial support (forecasting, reporting, and analysis) for the Motor Carrier, Traffic & Safety, Railroad and Aeronautics teams
Streamlining reporting workflows and ensuring rigorous compliance with state and federal standards
Ensuring every dollar spent directly supports UDOT’s mission of enhancing quality of life through transportation innovation
Qualification
Required
At least five (5) years of related professional experience reconciling, analyzing, and budgeting financial data
Completed higher education coursework in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration may be substituted for work experience on a year-for-year basis
High degree of emotional intelligence
Ability to communicate financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders
Mastery of enterprise financial systems
Technical Proficiency: Mastery of automated accounting systems and the ability to prepare complex financial documentation
Analytical Reasoning: Using logic to identify underlying trends, facts, or data discrepancies to draw sound conclusions
Problem Solving: The ability to explore alternatives and propose quality solutions to fiscal challenges
Communication: Communicating complex financial information clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing, to diverse stakeholders
Regulatory Knowledge: Interpreting and applying laws, rules, and industry standards to maintain organizational compliance
