TEMPORARY Seasonal Biological Technician Denver
The Colorado Department of Natural Resources is seeking a Temporary Seasonal Biological Technician to support their Resource Stewardship Program. The role involves conducting biological field surveys for raptors, invertebrates, and bats in state parks across Colorado, with a mix of field and office work.

Responsibilities
Responsibilities primarily involve biological field surveys - supporting the raptor monitoring program through nest monitoring surveys and volunteer management in state parks across the state of Colorado – as well as performing invertebrate surveys in state parks across the state and deploying bat recording devices in state parks along the front range
Duties also include data management QA/QC, report writing, GIS cartography and administrative and programmatic support tasks such as volunteer coordination and outreach
Work skills that are acquired through this work include tablet computer mapping in Colorado’s state parks using ESRI Field Maps, Survery123, biological monitoring skills, using bat recording analysis software, volunteer management, GIS analysis, sensitive and rare species management, production of training & education materials, and administrative duties
Travel to state parks across the state of Colorado for up to a full week at a time is a primary component of the duties of this position
Qualification
Required
Proficiency with raptor identification
Proficiency with ESRI GIS products
Valid Colorado Driver's license
Good organizational skills
Good interpersonal skills
Good written and oral communication skills
Ability to work with autonomy
Background in ecology, wildlife, conservation biology, natural resources, GIS or other natural resource sciences
Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 applications
Preferred
Specific experience with Field Maps for ArcGIS and Survey123
Knowledge of Colorado wildlife (specifically nesting raptors) and vegetation
Experience with wildlife and/or vegetation sampling techniques
Experience using ESRI Field Maps to collect biological data in an outdoor field setting
Raptor identification skills
Experience with Song Meter Bat unit deployment
Experience conducting invertebrate surveys out in the field
Experience working with volunteers
Experience with data entry and maintaining data
Strong work ethic and organizational skills
Ability to work in a professional setting both independently and on teams
Ability to communicate information clearly and concisely
Ability to develop reports and present information both orally and in written format
Understanding of recreation, natural resource and public land management principles
Understanding of how natural sciences relate to land management
Experience with or willingness to regularly perform overnight field work in state parks across Colorado in a variety of conditions
Passion for working outdoors and excitement for working for Colorado Parks and Wildlife
