CL Business Development Manager North America
Evonik is a global leader in specialty chemicals, and they are seeking a Business Development Manager to drive growth for the Adhesives and Composites market segment within North America. The role involves managing customer relationships, identifying growth opportunities, and meeting revenue and margin targets in the West Coast territory.

Responsibilities
Seek, identify, and capture growth opportunities in the Adhesives & Composites market segment for the ECA product line across North America, including both direct and distribution customers. Manage direct customer relationships and support distributor customers in the U.S. and Canada, while collaborating with a counterpart in Mexico to ensure regional alignment and growth in this market segment
Manage sales territory on the U.S. West Coast (CA, NV, UT, AZ) for the Crosslinkers Business Line, covering both product lines: SIA and ECA. Meet or exceed volume, revenue and margin targets for the territory
Manage all aspects of customer and market interface in the territory
Defend and grow existing business and identify new opportunities in the territory. Develop high quality customer relationships with key decision makers. Manage customer pricing and distributor support pricing requests
Develop and implement key account plans
Negotiate and execute multi-year supply agreements that meet the commercial requirements of Evonik while also offering competitive advantage to our customers
Work with Marketing, Applied Technology, and commercial support functions to execute plans and meet business objectives for the territory
Communicate market intelligence and account updates for customers and markets through timely submission of contact reports, new business opportunities, e-mails, voice-mails, follow-up letters, a monthly territory report and other means of communication as necessary
Build strong customer relationships, gain trust, respond to customer needs in a timely fashion, and create an environment where customers feel at ease working with the New Business Development Manager
Utilize Evonik’s digital tools to optimize business processes: CUPSET for managing customer pricing, IBP for accurate forecasting and visibility, and D365 for reporting contact reports, tracking leads and opportunities, sharing competitive market insights, and monitoring sample progress with customers
Qualification
Required
Demonstrated working knowledge of the coatings market and customers, including decision-maker understanding and customer segmentation
Excellent commercial, negotiation, communication, presentation, and organizational skills, with a strategic mindset
Strong ability to understand customer needs and translate them into system solutions, with existing market and technical insight
Proven ability to work collaboratively across marketing, sales, and technical teams while also self-motivated and independent
Ability to work effectively with digital tools, including MS Office (Word, Excel and Power Point), CUPSET for pricing management, IBP for forecasting, and D365 for call reporting, lead tracking, and market data sharing
Capable of managing and prioritizing multiple projects, with strong follow-up skills
Ability to travel about 60% to customer sites, within the Americas
Preferred
Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering preferred
Located in Texas or California preferred
Experience in chemical sales or marketing, with background in epoxy, PU coatings, or related laboratory/technical environments, preferred
