Responsibilities

Oversee the recording and reconciliation of ceded and assumed reinsurance premiums, losses, and commissions
Ensure timely settlement of reinsurance recoverables and payables
Prepare and review reinsurance-related journal entries and schedules for monthly, quarterly, and annual closes
Ensure compliance with GAAP, statutory accounting principles, and regulatory requirements
Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and explanations
Analyze reinsurance results and variances, providing insights to senior management
Identify opportunities to streamline processes and enhance controls
Supervise and mentor reinsurance accounting staff, fostering a culture of accuracy and accountability
Coordinate workload and ensure deadlines are met
Work closely with actuarial, finance, and reinsurance operations teams to ensure accurate data flow
Liaise with brokers and reinsurers to resolve discrepancies and maintain strong relationships

Required

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred
5+ years of experience in insurance or reinsurance accounting, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role
Strong knowledge of GAAP and statutory accounting principles, as well as Schedule F
Proficiency in accounting systems and Microsoft Excel; experience with reinsurance systems is a plus
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
