SYEP Program Assistant
The Police Athletic League (PAL) is the largest independent youth organization in New York City that provides educational and recreational activities for children and young adults. The SYEP Program Assistant will be responsible for various administrative duties related to the Summer Youth Employment Program, acting as a liaison between participants and staff, and ensuring compliance with program requirements.

Responsibilities
Assist with review of enrollment documents and correspondence to applicants as needed
Act as liaison between direct Departmental Staff, Participants and Worksites
Correspond with program participants and worksites via phone/email regarding program documents as needed throughout the program
Communicate with Department Staff as needed to help maintain and update SYEP Program Information
Assist in making sure that the team is on task to meet any deadlines
Assist with calculating and entering participant timesheets to ensure payroll deadline
Assist with tracking timesheets to ensure that issues are addressed and solved in a timely fashion
Ensure all worksite and participant files are in compliance
Assist with the distribution of SYEP Payroll cards, t-shirts, and documents as needed
Assist with maintaining the SYEP Calendar, send reminders as needed to SYEP Site Monitors and worksites to ensure that all upcoming deadlines are met
Answer phones, maintain files, correspond with program stakeholders, participants, worksites and staff via email as needed
Evening work related to special events and meetings may be required
Assist SYEP team with recruitment, orientation, co-facilitation of workshops as needed
Qualification
Required
Engaging 'customer service' personality and detailed orientated skills are essential
Must be able to multi-task as well as change tasks based on the needs of the student participants who are present and the needs of the program (must be flexible)
Able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive documents
Must have good time management skills
Must be ability to accept persons from differing backgrounds and economic situations
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple administrative tasks while meeting deadlines
Professional communication skills, both oral and written
Ability to interact professionally and effectively with organization staff, parents, community residents, visitors, and vendors
Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office systems
Familiar with virtual platforms (Zoom, Teams, Google classroom)
Must be willing to travel within NYC's 5 boroughs
Preferred
Summer Youth Employment experience preferred but not a must
