Sr. Specialist, International Chartering
Phillips 66 is a leading energy company, and they are seeking a Sr. Specialist in International Chartering to manage shipping cargos and freight trading opportunities. Responsibilities
Develop marine market intelligence to keep commodity traders and schedulers fully informed on their markets
Identify and execute on portfolio optimization, P&L and cost reduction opportunities. Build and maintain constant market awareness to seek out profitable shipping opportunities
Develop collaborative working relationships within and outside of the organization, including Renewables and Product Traders / Schedulers, Marine Schedulers, Planners, Ship Owners and Brokers
Negotiate favorable rates, terms, conditions, and pro forma charter parties with vessel owners
Fundamental knowledge and views on market supply and demand balances, able to identify and execute on positions and opportunities that provide competitive freight advantage to Phillips 66
Manage tonnage internally and externally to balance the portfolio and take advantage of opportunities and changing market conditions to create value
Provide timely daily freight estimates to Traders, Schedulers and Planners based on current markets. Monitor and communicate daily freight market activity, fixtures, & trends to help optimize freight costs associated with trading activities
Provide input across the Value Chain, working with internal stakeholders to turn regional or global information into value for the company
Ensure all vetting approvals are completed on chartered tonnage
Support Freight Forward Agreement (FFA) idea and profit generation
Qualification
Required
Legally authorized to work in the United States
Bachelor's degree or higher
7 or more years of chartering experience in International Chartering and Freight Trading within a Commercial/Trading Organization
Willing and able to be on call 24/7 as needed
Preferred
Experience with renewable feedstocks (i.e. tallow, canola oil, soybean oil)
Working knowledge of IMO2 & 2/3 Chemical tankers: trade lanes, cargo history, cleaning requirements
Working knowledge of the marine transportation business; marine logistics, chartering, commodity trading/scheduling, optimization, and marine strategy
Working knowledge of international maritime regulations and risk policies
