Responsibilities

Provide commercial legal support for a large-scale capital construction project in Kazakhstan

Review, negotiate, and advise on Master Service Agreements (MSAs) and related vendor contracts governed by or impacted by Kazakhstan law

Ensure contracts comply with Kazakhstan’s legal and regulatory framework, including mandatory local law provisions and enforceability requirements

Adapt global contract templates by drafting and revising Kazakhstan-specific addenda to address local statutory, regulatory, and commercial considerations

Evaluate transactions from a Kazakhstan legal perspective and identify when additional contractual protections, approvals, or local-law provisions are required

Coordinate closely with local Kazakhstan attorneys to validate legal positions, interpretations, and risk assessments

Partner with global procurement, engineering, and commercial stakeholders while working independently in a remote setting

Required

7+ years of commercial legal experience, with a strong focus on international or cross-border transactions

Demonstrated experience working with contracts governed by Kazakhstan law, either directly or in close collaboration with Kazakhstan-licensed counsel

Practical knowledge of Kazakhstan commercial, contract, or construction-related legal requirements, including local law addenda and jurisdiction-specific provisions

Experience advising on engineering, construction, sourcing, or capital project agreements

Proven ability to operate independently while managing local-law input from external counsel

Strong written and verbal communication skills, particularly in cross-border and multi-stakeholder environments
