PC/Equipment Support Technician

Genesee Education Consultant Services (GECS) is seeking a PC/Equipment Support Technician responsible for the planning, installation, configuration, and maintenance of personal computer workstations and related support equipment. The role involves diagnosing and resolving hardware and software issues, maintaining inventory, and ensuring compliance with maintenance agreements.

Education Management

Responsibilities

Responsible for the planning, installation, configuration and maintenance of personal computer workstations, peripherals and related support equipment for Genesee Intermediate School District
Maintains workstation inventory and documentation
Evaluates and makes recommendations for workstation-related technologies, i.e. DVD players, flash drives, etc. to the technical services Supervisor
Installs and configures workstation hardware and software in accordance with manufacturer specifications and the intermediate school district’s standard of quality
Responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting, resolving and repairing workstation hardware and software problems and issues
Maintains inventory and communicates with immediate supervisor the replacement and upgrade needs in various departments/programs for workstation and related support equipment
Provides intake, tracking and resolution within the Helpdesk work order system
Implements and performs preventive maintenance procedures in accordance with manufacturer specifications and the intermediate school district’s standard of quality
Communicates and coordinates the registration of maintenance agreements with manufacturers to insure warranty coverage for workstations and related support equipment
Develops specifications and assists the Technical Services Supervisor with guidelines for the implementation of a Common Office Environment
Develops specifications and assists the Technical Services Supervisor with guidelines for the implementation of a Common Office Environment
Works with department staff to insure that equipment is installed in accordance with established timelines and helpdesk priority
Consistently models Win-Win leadership
Ensures that Acceptable Use Practice (AUP) forms are signed and approved by district Administrators prior to the installation of equipment
Works with Technical Services Supervisor and department Director to review and renew all district Acceptable Use Practice (AUP) forms on an annual basis
Performs other related duties as assigned

Required

Associate's degree or higher in computer science or related field preferred
A+ and/or MCP certification required, education and experience may be considered in lieu of certification
Demonstrated current knowledge and expertise supporting desktop computers and peripheral equipment required
Minimum three years demonstrated successful current work experience supporting desktop computers in a help desk or field service environment required
Demonstrated effective troubleshooting, problem-solving and workstation support skills required
Current knowledge of the latest version of Windows, MS Office and Active Directory required
Ability to pass proficiency testing and maintain proficiency in Microsoft Windows XP
Working knowledge of MS Exchange, basic networking technologies, LAN/WAN, TCP/IP and Internet
Capable of working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Ability to adapt to changing priorities and to assimilate new knowledge quickly and effectively in order to incorporate the products and outgrowths of evolving technologies
Ability to utilize district technology and work to maintain proficiency, as required skills sets change with technology and/or the needs of the district
Must demonstrate strong written and oral communication skills
Strong teamwork, interpersonal communication and problem solving skills
Ability to maintain positive working relationships with team members
Works successfully as a team member
Demonstrated mental/physical ability and stamina for meeting the essential duties of the position and the ability to travel to and from the intermediate school district and constituent districts as needed
Punctuality and good attendance are requirements for the position
Ability to work a flexible workday, workweek, and work year in order to meet the needs of the position, the department and the district
Demonstrate honesty, integrity, and professionalism at all times
Ability to exercise good judgment and make decisions in accordance with board policies and established administrative guidelines
