Director, Enterprise Services

Cherokee County School District - GA is seeking a Director of Enterprise Services to provide comprehensive vision and leadership for the District’s core IT infrastructure, systems administration, and network operations. This role is responsible for overseeing the daily operational integrity, security, and performance of all server systems, data networks, and critical enterprise applications.

Responsibilities

Compile reports, gather statistics and develop other documentation as requested by the Chief Information Officer or designee
Represent the Cherokee County School District at meetings, conferences and conventions, as assigned in a professional manner
Assist in the evaluation, assessment and implementation of new and emerging technologies
Adhere to the rules set forth by the Cherokee County Board of Education with regard to soliciting vendors for pricing
Adhere to the rules set forth by the Cherokee County Board of Education regarding the storage of bidding processes and documentation
Perform and promote all activities in compliance with equal employment nondiscrimination policies of The School Board of Cherokee County
Participate, successfully, in the training programs offered to increase the individual’s skill and proficiency related to the assignments
Review current developments, literature and technical sources of information related to job responsibilities
Consult regularly with the Chief Information Officer or designee for planning and coordinating projects, assigning priorities, acquiring products and handling special tasks and matters of significance
Provide ongoing guidance and assistance with the creation and fine-tuning of policies and procedures that are both global in scale to the district’s priorities and objectives and specific to the operation of the Technology Department
Direct the efforts in researching and recommending new and emerging technologies that have potential value in the K-12 arena
Participate in the short- and long-term strategic planning for technology
Serve as internal project lead/manager for large scale infrastructure projects having organization and community-wide implications
Oversee the assessment and capacity planning for future system capacity and connectivity, including making recommendations for necessary purchases and interfacing with vendors
Manage both land and cellular telecommunications systems
Lead the daily operations of all data networks, including advanced tuning and performance of systems and networks
Manage the curation, development, and maintenance of technical standards manuals for infrastructure wiring, LAN/WAN design, end-user devices, and any other technology-related equipment
Design and configure network systems to operate according to design specifications
Design, engineer, implement and support all network switching and routing across the school district
Coordinate with the Director(s) to review the installation/expansion of all electronic data communications systems to ensure compliance with adopted technology standards
Oversee the management and condition of the Network Operation Centers (NOC)
Manage the data centers, NOC, local area networks (LANs), wireless networks, wide area networks (WANs), and data network cabling
Maintain a system that tracks and manages the network configuration for each school/site
Oversee server configurations and virtual environments for schools and offices
Ensure that the technology naming and numbering standards are followed for all systems and networks
Provide thorough documentation on unique networking solutions, configurations, processes, and procedures, and share that information with technology personnel
Provide daily oversight, monitoring, troubleshooting, and problem resolution to the District’s network services, including fileserver operation and backup, application installation and readiness, and remote access
Review, recommend, and provide the tools and resources necessary to ensure the operability and interoperability of all systems
Oversee the dispatch of personnel to provide technology support throughout the district, including support related to network and security events
Ensure the provision of end-user telephone and on-site support, and provide hardware, software, and networking support to end-users throughout the county
Maintain and utilize an electronic system that tracks the volume, type, and status of technology-based work requests
Supervise the planning and installation of network and computer software
Manage and administer district servers, virtual machines, hosts, storage, Active Directory (AD), Identity Management (IDM), Email/Office 365, and device management. This includes providing support for client/server infrastructure and ensuring operating systems and software are patched
Ensure that established levels of fault tolerance for key systems are properly monitored and maintained
Develop and execute contingency plans for failed, stolen, or severely damaged critical systems
Execute and improve core security functions: threat detection and prevention, incident response, systems and network security monitoring, forensics, vulnerability management, and data loss prevention on an enterprise scale
Review computer security incident reports and anomalous activity of the network; provide tier 1-2 escalation path for resolving security incidents
Research, develop, and keep abreast of federal, state, and industry security requirements, tools, techniques, and process improvements
Utilize tools and techniques to collect, analyze, and aggregate data loss prevention, security information event management, privileged account management, and data encryption
Provide oversight for user provisioning and access control and manage Identity and Access Management (IAM) solutions
Supervise and evaluate assigned employees, providing professional development and training to ensure employee performance meets acceptable standards
Develop standards for the continued professional development of the technology staff
Define training needs and requirements to ensure smooth network operations
Manage vendor relationships, third-party support contracts, and participate in the contract bidding and award process
Provide pricing and preferred vendor information to purchasing agents
Track repair of hardware items with vendors and resolve billing disputes
Possess and maintain valid and appropriate license, certificate and/or credential as may be required for this position
Follow work scheduling and attendance requirements in a regular, predictable and punctual manner
Ensure adherence to good safety procedures
Promote and maintain a positive and professional work environment
Follow federal and state laws, as well as School Board policies
Perform other duties as assigned

Required

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in computer sciences or related field
Minimum of eight years of experience (including at least three years supervisory or administrative experience) in the administration of core IT infrastructure, systems administration, and/or network operations

Preferred

Experience in a public K-12 school system preferred
