Highway Project Engineer

Responsibilities

Perform engineering design tasks for roadway projects from concept development to final design, including construction support
Develop plans, specifications, cost estimates, reports, and prepare final bid packages
Establish working relationships and contact with client technical staff and project managers
Provide engineering design services on traditional design-bid-build projects and design-build highway projects
Manage and mentor junior engineers on project assignments
Coordinate design activities and meetings between design staff, subconsultants, and client managers
Coordinate the planning, staffing, scheduling, budget management, quality control, of subconsultants and internal technical and support staff
Participate in project decisions regarding technical approaches, cost and scheduling performance
Lead projects and complete tasks within schedule and budget with teams comprised of different disciplines
Project QA/QC
Assist project managers with other various tasks

Qualification

Professional Engineer (PE) licenseTransportation design experienceMicroStation proficiencyOpenRoads proficiencyNJDOT design experienceAutoCAD experienceCivil 3D experienceCommunication skillsTeam-oriented mindset

Required

Bachelor's degree in civil engineering
Professional Engineer (PE) license in New Jersey, or ability to obtain through reciprocity within one year
8-10 years of engineering experience with broad knowledge of transportation design and strong technical skills in highway design
Proficient in MicroStation, OpenRoads, and Microsoft Office
NJDOT or NJTA design experience
Strong written and verbal communication skills with a collaborative, team-oriented mindset

Preferred

Experience with AutoCAD and Civil 3D
New Jersey client relationships
