Senior Design Engineer
Eaton is a leading company in the aerospace sector, currently seeking a Senior Design Engineer for their Aerospace team in Bethel, CT. The role involves designing and evaluating pressure transducer/sensor products, providing engineering solutions, and managing project engineering support for both sustaining and new product development.
Responsibilities
Provide engineering solutions that meet customer performance requirements, interface details, reliability, cost and schedule requirements. Works with customers to define explicit non-ambiguous requirements. Provides technical direction for assigned projects from initial concept phase to product delivery
Understand mechanical, electric-mechanical systems and robust design methods. Responsible for concept layout, modeling, detailing, release and change management of drawings in configuration control system. Ensure compliance to quality system requirements
Establish technical requirements for fabricated and procured components. Select materials, finishes, processes, dimensions and GD&T to meet the design intent. Work closely with manufacturing and quality engineers, customers, and suppliers. Visit suppliers and customers as required
Perform mechanical design tasks for cast, machined, and plastic/metallic additively manufactured components. Work with manufacturing and external suppliers to optimize design decisions. Design electromechanical sensor packaging with CAD component modeling, assembly and BOM structure creation, and production drawings
Work with other Eaton teams to perform structural static and dynamic analyses, thermal and fluid dynamics analyses, and other engineering analysis methods to verify compliance
Review customer specifications and drawings and developing Compliance Matrices against requirements
Manage and release drawings, models and documentation through Eaton’s product lifecycle management system
Capable of working directly with the customer and have the ability to clearly explain and discuss drawings, engineering analyses, and manufacturing processes
Develop plans for design verification and validation testing for design compliance. Provide support in the testing environment
Implement product improvement and cost reduction initiatives by evaluating engineering change requests
Perform Failure investigations associated with field, production and/or development/certification hardware
Support sales and marketing in generation of proposals and responses to customer inquiries
Design fluid flow products and fixturing with substantiation of design choices based on fluid mechanics concepts
Oversee the design, build, and testing of engineering prototypes for proposals and internal research and development projects
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution
Minimum of three (3) years engineering experience in electrical / electro-mechanical / mechanical design
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship, now or in the future
This position requires access to export-controlled information. To conform to U.S. Government export regulations applicable to that information, applicant must be a U.S. person, defined as a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (green card holder), (iii) refugee under 8 U.S.C. 1157, or (iv) asylee under 8 U.S.C. 1158
No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates within a 60-mile radius of Bethel, CT will be considered. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation
Preferred
Experience with manufacturing processes, product testing, stress analysis, magnetic properties, fluid dynamics, and thermal analysis
Aerospace / Automotive / Electronics industry experience
Experience with MEMS sensor integration and pressure sensing
