Geographic Information Systems Analyst
gWorks builds software that helps small local governments work better, and they are seeking a Geographic Information Systems Analyst. In this role, you will provide advanced technical support, maintain and enhance GIS applications, and collaborate with various teams to improve system reliability and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
Provide escalated technical support for customers using gWorks GIS applications
Troubleshoot complex issues involving map services, spatial data, geodatabases, and application behavior
Diagnose server-side issues related to IIS, application pools, permissions, and Windows environments
Assist customers with data-related questions (SQL Server, MySQL, file geodatabases, SDE connections)
Reproduce issues, identify root causes, document resolutions, and recommend long-term fixes
Translate technical findings into clear, actionable communication for non-technical users
Collaborate with Engineering, QA, and Operations to resolve issues and prevent recurrence
Maintain and enhance existing GIS applications built with:
Implement feature enhancements, UI updates, integrations, and performance improvements
Debug and resolve defects across front-end, back-end, and database layers
Develop new tools, APIs, or modules as needed to support product and customer needs
Manage IIS deployments, configurations, and site reliability
Participate in code reviews and follow best practices for security, scalability, and maintainability
Work with modern GIS workflows including map publishing, projections, and spatial data validation
Support Esri-based technologies such as ArcGIS Pro, ArcMap, SDE connections, and file geodatabases
Assist with ArcMap to ArcGIS Pro migration efforts
Maintain internal GIS datasets, scripts, and supporting utilities
Qualification
Required

Develop new tools, APIs, or modules as needed to support product and customer needs
Manage IIS deployments, configurations, and site reliability
