Responsibilities

Inspects construction projects to the requirements of erosion control, stormwater management, Chesapeake Bay, and related minimum codes and regulations

Examines construction methods and materials used to ensure compliance with all applicable codes and regulations; ensures adherence to approved plans, materials, and specifications; prepares inspection reports

Performs technical work inspecting local construction projects to ensure quality control, environmental protection, and life-safety rules are enforced

Enforces fieldwork, reviews construction plans, and keeps accurate files

Communicates daily with contractors and engineers

Sets up and maintains a variety of records and files

Prepares inspection

Performs other related duties as required

Qualification

Required

High School Diploma or equivalent, and one (1) to two (2) years of experience in the construction site inspections; or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provide the required skills, knowledge, and abilities

State DEQ Erosion and Sediment Inspector and Stormwater Management Inspector certification preferred or must be obtained within six (6) months of employment

Ability to utilize computer software such as Google Earth, and Microsoft products to include Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, Internet Explorer, and smartphone applications

Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with project staff, client representatives, and resource agencies

Experience operating equipment such as GPS, laser range finders, cameras, etc

Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record

Preferred

Dual Combined Inspector-Dual Combined Administrator in the state of Virginia

Familiarity with permitting and inspections under the state-implemented Pollutant Discharge Elimination System Program for Virginia
