Responsibilities
Perform engineering duties in planning and designing HVAC and plumbing systems to be used in constructing various structures, systems, or equipment
Assists in the various design elements to complete a project, system, component, or system with other team members with clear and specified objectives involving conventional types of plans, surveys, investigations, structures, and/or equipment
Assists in preparing complete project documentation including plans, specifications, due diligence reports, etc
Plans and coordinates detailed aspects of engineering work; work on multiple projects of moderate size or portions of major projects using time efficiently to stay within budget and deliver on time
Interacts and collaborates with clients, officials, contractors, and other project team members
Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all employees, management, and clients
Correct and update drawings and assist the project team and other staff members as required
Ensures that company technical policies and procedures are practiced during the execution of projects for clients
Delegation of work tasks and collaboration with subordinate staff, monitoring and reviewing delegated work for accuracy
Assists Project Managers in coordinating project designs with other disciplines, including attendance at project meetings
Performs specific engineering studies and design analyses and assists the Project Manager in establishing budgets, cost estimates, and project schedules
Review shop drawings, record changes, and communicate directly with suppliers, contractors, and client representatives as required
Performs on-site inspections as required
Perform heating and cooling load calculations with industry software such as Trace, Energy Pro, and HAP
Select and schedule equipment with oversight by senior staff
Layout air and water side systems on drawings
Coordinate with other disciplines for HVAC installations
Prepare mechanical drawings using designers or drafters and develop specifications
Coordinate design with vendor supplied equipment
Prepare equipment layouts and general arrangements
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical engineering
3-6 years of experience
Strong and versatile building design and presentation skills
Proficiency with current versions of Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, PowerPoint, MS Word, and MS Excel
Proficiency with HVAC load calculation software such as HAP and Trane Trace
Proficiency with duct sizing software
Sound knowledge and understanding of the project development process, including construction, retail, and commercial buildings
Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team environment
Highly organized, detail-driven, and conscientious
