Responsibilities

Prepare federal and state tax returns for private foundations and nonprofit organizations, including Forms 990, 990-PF, 990-T, 990-EZ, and related schedules
Assist with compliance for excise taxes, charitable contribution substantiation, and grant-making activities
Support tax planning and advisory services for private foundations and affiliated high-net-worth individuals
Research and analyze complex tax issues related to nonprofits, private foundations, and unrelated business income (UBI)
Coordinate with supervisors and managers to meet client deadlines and deliver high-quality client service
Review work prepared by associates and provide guidance and mentorship
Communicate directly with clients to gather information and respond to questions
Assist with IRS and state notices, audits, and inquiries as needed

Required

Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited college/university required
3+ years of progressive public accounting experience, with demonstrated exposure to private foundation and nonprofit tax
Strong knowledge of IRS regulations applicable to private foundations and tax-exempt organizations
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
Ability to juggle priorities in a fast-paced environment and to supervise staff and interns on multiple engagements
Performing, documenting, summarizing, and reviewing research conclusions regarding specific tax issues
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and tax software (e.g., ProSystem fx, Engagement)

Preferred

MST degree a plus
Active CPA license or EA certification preferred
Experience working with high-net-worth individuals and closely held entities is a plus
