DEPUTY CODE DEVELOPMENT COUNSEL
The New York City Fire Department (FDNY) seeks a full-time Deputy Code Development Counsel in the Bureau of Legal Affairs. The successful candidate will assist in developing and implementing the New York City Fire Code and interact with various city agencies and organizations.
Responsibilities
Assist in developing, drafting, advocating for enactment of, implementing and interpreting the New York City Fire Code, Fire Department rules and other public safety legislation and rules
Interact regularly with City agency executives and staff, both within and outside the Fire Department, including Mayors Office and City Council representatives, as well as representatives from real estate, professional, community and other organizations
Qualification
Required
Admission to the New York State Bar
One year of satisfactory United States legal experience subsequent to admission to any state bar
Six months of satisfactory service as an Agency Attorney Interne (30086)
Incumbents must remain Members of the New York State Bar in good standing for the duration of this employment
To be assigned to Assignment Level (AL) II, candidates must have one year of experience at Assignment Level I or two years of comparable legal experience subsequent to admission to the bar, in the areas of law related to the assignment
To be assigned to AL III candidates must have two years of experience in Assignment Levels I and/or II or three years of comparable legal experience subsequent to admission to the bar, in the areas of law related to the assignment
