Supervisory Public Affairs Specialist (Division Chief)
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) is a law enforcement agency within the U.S. Department of Justice that focuses on protecting communities from violent crime and illegal trafficking. The Supervisory Public Affairs Specialist will manage the Public Affairs Division, advising senior officials on media issues and overseeing public affairs programs.

Responsibilities
Managing the division programs and operations
Assisting in the developing, planning, organizing and directing public affairs programs for the Bureau
Serving as an advisor to the Assistant Director and Deputy Assistant Director for PGA on media issues
Providing authoritative analysis and advice on matters pertaining to the effective dissemination of information through the appropriate mass communications media
Qualification
Required
Must be a U.S. Citizen or National
May be required to serve a one year probationary period
Pass drug screening and subject to random drug test
Must successfully complete a background security investigation
Must be registered or exempt from the Selective Service
To qualify for GS-15 candidates must also have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-14
Specialized experience includes: Applying Public Affairs principles, methods, practices and techniques; AND Providing analytical methods of communication in order to function as a technical authority when engaging in liaison activities with the media and the general public; AND Serving as an advisor to executives on media issues
