Community Development Director
The City of Lodi is seeking a Community Development Director, a key member of the City’s executive leadership team. This role is responsible for overseeing the City’s Planning, Building Inspection, Neighborhood Services, and Development Review functions to ensure a thriving community.
Responsibilities
Responsible for shaping Lodi’s long-term growth, development, and neighborhood vitality
Oversees the City’s Planning, Building Inspection, Neighborhood Services, and Development Review functions
Ensures that Lodi’s built environment, land use decisions, and regulatory processes support a thriving, well-planned community
Guides Lodi through an exciting period of growth, revitalization, and change
Brings strong expertise in planning, building, neighborhood services, and development review
Oversees long range planning, policy development, and complex land-use decisions
Fosters a culture of collaboration, responsiveness, and problem solving within the department
Upholds regulatory requirements and delivers exceptional service to residents, businesses, and developers
Works closely with the community, City Manager, City Council, City Commissions, and regional partners
Represents the City in public forums and navigates sensitive or complex issues
Invests in staff development, promotes accountability, and creates a positive, customer-service-oriented culture
Qualification

Strong expertise in planning
Strong expertise in building
Strong expertise in neighborhood services
Strong expertise in development review
Strategic insight needed to oversee long range planning
Policy development experience
Experience with complex land-use decisions
