Responsibilities
Support the WCOE and its initiatives by producing high-quality stories and other forms of written communication for external and/or internal distribution
Support team members by editing their stories and other written communications for external and/or internal distribution
Develop and maintain strong relationships with individuals in designated coverage areas to consistently generate story ideas and pitches
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in a related field and at least two years of experience in communications
Excellent writing, editing, interviewing, and communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills for working with faculty, staff and students in a wide range of disciplines
Organization and the ability to plan ahead and work in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work within a high-functioning team
Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
Attention to detail
An understanding of and adherence to deadlines
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office products
Ability to accept, react to and implement constructive critique from supervisors, peers and other stakeholders
Preferred
A bachelor's degree in Journalism, Public Relations, or a related area with strong experience in news or feature/promotional writing and interviewing is preferred
Advanced knowledge of Associated Press writing style
