Research Study Assistant
Northwestern University is seeking a Research Study Assistant to perform biomedical and social-behavioral research within the Center for Circadian and Sleep Medicine. The role involves conducting sleep studies, administering tests, and ensuring compliance with clinical protocols and regulations.

Responsibilities
Recruits study participants
Reviews & obtains informed consent
Schedules study visits with participants
Conducts interviews
Scores test results
Collects survey data
Reviews medical records
Consults with nurses & physicians to determine pretreatment & eligibility requirements of protocol from completion to registration of participants
Facilitates communication with key personnel & participants to maintain project study flow
Maintains detailed records of results which may include collecting, extracting & entering data; &/or preparing basic charts & graphs
Performs scientific literature searches in support of research
Completes portions of grant applications &/or documents associated with current local, state, & federal regulatory guidelines, requirements, laws & research protocols
Processes reimbursements for travel expenses
Monitors & distribute petty cash
Coordinates fund distribution among multiple sponsors and clinical sites
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in a major such as social or health science or related; OR appropriate combination of education and experience and 2 years' research study or other relevant experience required
Must complete NU's IRB CITI training before interacting with any participants & must re-certify every 3 years
Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Communicates effectively both written & verbal
Strong organizational skills / attention to detail
Adaptable to changing priorities
High degree of professionalism
Diplomatic / uses good judgment
Team-player / collaborative
Demonstrates initiative and follow-through
Preferred
Prior experience working with Polysomnography, EEG, or sleep research
Experience working overnight, weekend, and irregular work hours
Experience working in academia, research, or medical industry
Experience programming i.e., MATLAB, Python, R, etc
Computer Proficiency in FSM/NU systems
Experience in the set-up and performance of Polysomnographic studies
Phlebotomy
Coding/programming
Current CPR/BLS Certification
Proficiency with REDCAP
Current research privileges with affiliated clinical institutions (i.e. NMH) are strongly preferred
