Video, Film, and Digital Media Teacher
The Lawrenceville School is seeking a full-time Video, Film, and Digital Media teacher to work with high school students in a collaborative academic setting. The role involves teaching, coaching, advising students, and fostering a supportive environment within the visual arts department.
Education
Responsibilities
Teach four sections/two to three preps per trimester (approximately 50 students)
Two seasons of coaching or equivalent co-curricular commitment, including at least one season of interscholastic coaching (or the equivalent)
Serve as advisor for the L10; Lawrenceville’s student produced video news channel
Responsible for curriculum design and documentation
Advise five to eight students
One evening a week of “House duty,” providing supervision in a student residence from 6-11:30 pm
Chaperone a weekend activity (dance, coffee house, etc.) at least once per term
Work within the department and in the broader school to foster community and belonging
Work professionally and cooperatively within the visual arts department, the School, and the broader Lawrenceville community
Other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Film Studies, Digital Media, Communication, or related field
At least three years high school teaching experience
Demonstrated proficiency with video production tools, editing software, and digital media platforms (especially Adobe Premiere Pro)
Ability to teach both introductory and advanced courses in Filmmaking
Demonstrated success fostering student creativity and critical media literacy
Demonstrated success facilitating collaborative, student-centered classes
Demonstrated success in providing timely, effective student feedback
Demonstrated dedication to working with high-school students
Experience with project-based learning and multimedia instruction
Demonstrated success working as a part of a high-performing team
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication (oral and written) abilities
Ability to work collaboratively and independently, as needed and appropriate
Proficient computer skills, including familiarity with Google suite and Microsoft Office suite
Physical demands are in excess of those for sedentary work
Must be able to remain on their feet for extended periods of time, go up and down flights of steps, as well as stoop, kneel, crouch, and lift
Routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, fax machines, etc
Must be capable of using visual display terminal with continuous wrist movement on a keyboard
Required to stand for long periods of time
Required to talk, hear, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms
Must be able to lift up to 25lbs. without assistance
Ability to see with normal parameters
Operates in a professional work environment
Will work outside of normal working hours
Preferred
Master's degree in Film Studies, Digital Media, Communication, or related field
