Community Resource Specialist

Responsibilities
Develop and execute strategic plan focused on communications and priorities for the United States Attorney's Office, which reflects prior experience and a high level of familiarity with California-based police chiefs, law enforcement associations, and district attorneys
Plan, develop, and manage wide range of large (300+ people) and complex events with stakeholders, district residents, and the general public
Manage district strategic messaging through social media as well as plan and execute press conferences, which builds on prior experience managing a social media presence for an official governmental organization
Develop wide network of relationships with community leaders, district residents, and law enforcement partners to advance shared priorities and goals of the United States Attorney's Office
Respond to and form partnerships with special interest organizations related to crime prevention, which reflects prior experience and a high level of familiarity with California-based police chiefs, law enforcement associations, and district attorneys
Engage district residents through testimonials and media relations on Department of Justice initiatives
Author and edit editorials and other written communications on behalf of the United States Attorney's Office, which builds on prior experience publishing op-eds/editorials in the state of California
Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress
Qualification
Required
You must be a U.S. Citizen or National
Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation
You must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable
If selected, you may be required to complete a one year probationary period
You must meet all qualification requirements upon the closing date of this announcement
To be eligible at the GS-12 level, you must meet the following conditions as defined below: Specialized Experience: One full year of specialized experience at the GS-11 Level. Specialized experience is defined as building cooperative relationships with law enforcement, court officials, and service agencies focusing on the need of the community; responds and refers complaints to proper law enforcement agency; special events and or meetings with various organizations involved with crime prevention and reentry programs; participating in outreach efforts; disseminating information about various community services; and analyzing and evaluating overall effectiveness of programs in meeting goals and objectives of the organizations
All academic degrees and coursework must be completed at a college or university that has obtained accreditation or pre-accreditation status from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education
Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the above education requirements if you can show that the foreign education is comparable to that received in an accredited educational institution in the United States. It is your responsibility to timely provide such evidence by submitting proof of creditability of education as evaluated by a credentialing agency with your application materials. All documentation must be in English or include an English translation
