Surgical Tech Program Director/ Clinical Coordinator and Instructor
Black Hawk College is seeking a full-time Surgical Tech Program Director/Clinical Coordinator to manage and teach in the Surgical Technology Program. The role involves planning, implementing, and evaluating instruction, as well as supervising clinical rotations to enhance the educational experience of students.

Responsibilities
Responsible for the planning, implementation, coordination, supervision and evaluation of all instruction and related program management activities including clinical coordination
Expected to encourage learning by preparing appropriate syllabi; developing lectures, discussions, and other presentations or activities to enhance the students educational experience
Develop and execute appropriate methods of evaluating students’ performance
Develop, secure, and maintain the equipment and other instructional materials essential to the presentation of the classroom material
Qualification
Required
Possess a minimum of an Associate Degree that includes a concentration in surgical technology
Have documented education or experience in instructional methodology, curriculum design and program planning
Be a graduate of an education program in surgical technology accredited by a nationally recognized programmatic accreditation agency
Possess a credential in the field of surgical technology through a national certification program that is accredited by the National Commission on Certifying Agencies (NCCA)
Have a minimum total of five years of experience, either in the operating room scrub role or as an instructor in surgical technology, or a combination of both, within the past ten years
Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with faculty, staff and students
Demonstrate ability to organize workload, accurate record keeping, and follow through on assignments
Ability to adapt to and encourage positive change
Oral English proficiency for classroom instruction is required
The Program Director should possess experience/training as an educator and should pursue ongoing formal training designed to maintain and upgrade his/her professional, instructional, and administrative capabilities
The Program Director should participate in an ARC/STSA sponsored accreditation workshop at least once every five years
