Responsibilities
Responsible for collection of blood specimen in inpatient/outpatient and pre-surgical settings
Perform laboratory specimen collection
Provide for safe and secure specimen handling and point of care testing
Accurately enter orders and collection information into the Laboratory Information System and associated subsystems
Monitor computer logs for incomplete work
Schedule tests/procedures and provide results in LIS/HIS and over the phone
Follow established guidelines to obtain specimens and perform procedures
Prioritize work to achieve optimal patient outcomes
Maintain a safe work environment
Demonstrate ability to deliver care or service adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level and cultural differences of population served
Qualification
Required
At least 18 years of age
Completion of a formal phlebotomy education program OR-
Completion of three months of full-time clinical phlebotomy and laboratory experience OR-
Enrollment in final year of MLT or MLS program
Successful customer service background within a diverse cultural setting
Preferred
Prior laboratory experience in a hospital or clinic setting in a similar capacity
