EPI/RWE Analytics Intern

Responsibilities
Utilize in-house databases, licensed real-world data (RWD) sources, and external partner resources to characterize diseases of interest, including assessments of disease burden, incidence, prevalence, and progression
Conduct systematic and targeted literature reviews to describe epidemiology, natural history, and background event rates for outcomes relevant to Neurocrine programs
Support development of scientific study materials—including study concepts, protocols, analysis plans, mock tables, and written summaries—for internal stakeholders and regulatory/scientific communications
Observe and contribute to the day-to-day workflows of RWE study leads, gaining exposure to study planning, feasibility assessments, execution, and cross-functional scientific review
Assist with data extraction, evidence synthesis, and preparation of slide decks summarizing epidemiologic findings for safety, clinical, and value-based decision-making
Contribute to exploratory analyses using claims, EHR, registry, or other RWD datasets under the guidance of senior epidemiologists
Participate in cross-functional meetings with Biostatistics, DSPV, Medical Affairs, HEOR, and Clinical Development to understand how epidemiology and RWE inform safety evaluation, trial design, and product strategy
Complete a dedicated Epidemiology/RWE capstone project and present findings and recommendations to senior leadership at the end of the internship
Qualification
Required
Currently enrolled in a degree program in Epidemiology, Pharmacoepidemiology, Biostatistics, or a related public health discipline at an accredited institution
Strong understanding of observational research methods, including study design, bias, confounding, and causal inference; familiarity with modern epidemiologic and pharmacoepidemiologic concepts
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly synthesize and present complex data to both scientific and non-scientific audiences
Demonstrated motivation, attention to detail, and strong work ethic, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
Ability to commit to a full-time (40 hours/week) internship during June–August 2026
Preferred
Experience with registry, administrative claims, or electronic health record (EHR) data
Experience or coursework involving rare diseases, genetic epidemiology, or demography
Hands-on experience analyzing real-world data (e.g., claims, EHR, registry)
Exposure to research in rare diseases, genetic epidemiology, or population demography
Proficiency with analytical tools such as R, Python, SAS, or similar statistical software
Familiarity with systematic review platforms (e.g., DistillerSR, Covidence) or RWD analytics environments
