Psychology Technician (Psychometrics)

USAJOBS is seeking a Psychology Technician (Psychometrics) to serve Veterans within the Sheridan VA Health Care System. The primary responsibility of this role is to conduct psychological testing and assessments, including suicide screening and behavioral observations, under the supervision of a psychologist.

Responsibilities

The incumbent functions relatively autonomously in administering, scoring, and providing an initial evaluation of a variety of psychological and neuropsychological test data gathered from patients with a variety of highly complex psychological problems and conditions which can affect the ability of patients to function competently at home and/or in other situations, under the direct supervision of a psychologist
Provides to the assessing Psychologist, preliminary interpretation through written reports of test data, validity interpretations, behavioral observations, and patient history gained throughout the testing process
Primary assignments focus on the administration and scoring of initial psychological screening and evaluation of veterans with all degrees of severity, some of whom may be uncooperative or hostile, providing initial psycho-diagnostic services, making preliminary interpretations of the data, developing recommended courses of action, and consultation to the interdisciplinary treatment team
Administers symptom screening via Measurement Based Care tools to Veterans is varied program in mental health at identified timepoints, or as needed and requested by a referring clinician
Tracks, reports, and provides preliminary interpretations of symptom-based Measurement Based Care data to care providers (in varying mental health treatment settings) and mental health leadership
The incumbent monitors the supply of psychological testing materials and coordinates the ordering of needed supplies with the supervising psychologist
Searches files, libraries, or other sources of information published or unpublished, for designated subjects and gathers and assembles data for the professional staff upon request.- Assists in office management by organizing, inventorying, tracking use, and replenishing testing materials
Maintains various sources of clerical and workload statistical data and completes requested reports
Receives telephone calls, determines nature of call, and answers routine inquiries based on past decision or regulatory guidelines
Refers caller to professional staff or relays their answers on non-routine matters
Develop and maintains adequate records with filing systems for patient data
Performs other related duties as assigned

Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR): Experience that involved the observation of and assistance in the application of techniques relating to behavior, capacities, traits, interests, and activities of either humans or, under laboratory conditions, animals
Specialized Experience GS-07: You must have at least one (1) full year of technical work under the direction of a professional psychologist in a program of professional services, training, or research
Education: To qualify based on education alone for this grade level you must have successfully completed at least one (1) full year of graduate study in psychology in an accredited college or university to substitute for the 1 year of experience to meet in full the requirements at the GS-7 level
Specialized Experience GS-08: You must have at least one (1) full year of technical work under the direction of a professional psychologist in a program of professional services, training, or research at the GS-7 level
Education: To qualify based on education alone for this grade level you must have successfully completed at least one and half (1.5) full years of graduate study in psychology in an accredited college or university to substitute for the 1 year of experience to meet in full the requirements at the GS-7 level
Specialized Experience GS-09: You must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-08 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization or two (2) years at GS-7 level
Education: To qualify based on education alone for this grade level you must have two (2) full years of graduate education or a master's degree directly related to the work of the position
Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have a combination of specialized experience AND one (1) full year of graduate education directly related to the work of the position
A transcript must be submitted with your application if you are basing all or part of your qualifications on education. Education cannot be credited without documentation
Only education or degrees recognized by the U.S. Department of Education from accredited colleges, universities, schools, or institutions may be used to qualify for Federal employment
