Water Resources Engineer – Mid Level (Hybrid)

Barr Engineering Co. is seeking a water resources engineer to join their Bismarck team. In this hybrid role, you will support the Water Resources group by working on hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, GIS, and CADD work, while collaborating with a diverse team of engineers and scientists.

Responsibilities

Hydraulic & hydrologic analysis: hydrologic analysis related to stormwater planning and flood control, hydraulic analysis and design related to storm sewer infrastructure, rivers, streams, conveyances, dams, and other hydraulic structures
Reporting: assist with the preparation of technical reports, plans, and specifications, and work with clients, permitting agencies, and public officials
Project & task management: assist with planning, coordinating, and executing projects. Help ensure project milestones are met and provide regular updates to project managers and clients

Required

bachelor's degree in civil/environmental engineering with emphasis on water resources
5+ years of water resources engineering experience with a focus on hydrology, hydraulics, or water quality
Experience leading tasks or projects
Experience and knowledge of hydrologic modeling and 1D and 2D hydraulic modeling software
possession of a current, valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship by Barr, now or in the future

Preferred

Master's degree or PhD in civil or environmental engineering with a focus on hydrology and/or hydraulics
Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within one year
Experience in business development and client management
Experience with water quality modeling and analysis
Working knowledge of GIS and CADD software
Experience with site development design, plans, and/or specifications
Construction observation, fieldwork, and surveying experience
