The Project Design Analyst III will independently support project design execution across complex engineering and construction programs, ensuring compliance with PMO standards and enhancing project documentation.

Responsibilities

Lead complex design coordination workflows, proactively aligning scope, schedule, and deliverables across engineering disciplines and external partners
Develop, manage, and maintain advanced project documentation systems, ensuring accuracy, version control, and compliance with organizational standards
Analyze design progress, resource needs, and sequencing impacts to support Project Design Managers in maintaining forecast accuracy
Independently facilitate multi-disciplinary design coordination meetings, prepare action logs, and drive follow-up until closure
Oversee receipt, review, and integration of submittals, RFIs, design packages, and vendor documentation, ensuring completeness and alignment with project requirements
Evaluate schedule adherence, deliverable quality, and workflow efficiency to identify risks, process gaps, and improvement opportunities
Recommend and implement process enhancements that strengthen documentation control, design coordination, and cross-functional communication
Support and occasionally lead continuous improvement initiatives aligned with PECNA PMO methodologies, including refinement of standards and templates
Analyze recurring design issues or delays and propose corrective actions or preventative measures to project leadership
Provide subject matter expertise to cross-functional partners on PMO processes, documentation standards, and project management tools
Develop training materials that support rollout and adoption of new documentation workflows, templates, and PMO procedures
Lead onboarding and training for new team members or stakeholders who interact with project documentation systems
Coordinate closely with Project Design Managers, engineering teams, construction partners, procurement, and external vendors to drive alignment on design scope and deliverables
Lead communication workflows that ensure project documentation remains accurate, accessible, and disseminated to relevant stakeholders
Facilitate issue resolution across disciplines by capturing technical concerns, routing them to the appropriate owners, and tracking resolution through implementation
Communicate potential risks, delays, or documentation gaps to project leadership with recommended mitigation strategies
Ensure adherence to PECNA PMO project controls procedures, documentation standards, and design review requirements
Conduct quality checks on incoming and outgoing documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with contractual and regulatory standards
Promote compliance with safety, environmental, and industry-specific guidelines throughout the design coordination process
Support audit readiness by ensuring all project documentation is properly archived and compliant with internal retention standards

Required

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management, or 4 years of related work experience
4+ years of related experience supporting engineering or construction design projects
Advanced organizational and documentation management skills, with proven ability to handle large volumes of complex project data
Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities
Demonstrated ability to work independently with limited supervision while proactively identifying risks and driving resolution
Strong cross-functional communication skills, capable of translating technical information to diverse audiences
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and project management tools (Excel, Project, PowerPoint; SharePoint or similar DMS)
Proven ability to learn new project management systems, engineering platforms, and digital tools quickly
Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English

Preferred

Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or higher)
6+ years of experience supporting design or construction projects in manufacturing, industrial, or large-scale commercial environments
Experience with MS Project, Primavera P6, or equivalent scheduling tools
Experience interpreting engineering drawings, design packages, or construction documents
Demonstrated ability to lead process improvements or support development of project standards
