Youth Career Facilitator
Goodwill of the Southern Alleghenies is dedicated to supporting youth and young adults in securing employment and pursuing education. The Youth Career Facilitator will coordinate vocational services and outreach, building relationships with schools and employers to connect students with career pathways.

Responsibilities
Develop and implement individualized service plans to help participants identify strengths, overcome barriers, and achieve employment or educational goals
Conduct assessments using strengths-based case management practices
Provide individualized career guidance, career assessments, and employment planning
Assist job seekers with resume writing, interview preparation, and job applications, helping them build a professional career portfolio (e.g., resumes, certifications, references)
Deliver job readiness training, financial literacy education, and career workshops in both one-on-one and group settings
Support job seekers in overcoming employment barriers and developing essential workplace skills
Connect participants to wraparound services, including housing assistance, financial literacy, and mental health resources
Facilitate job development by engaging employers, identifying opportunities, and presenting employer incentives
Advocate for participants by helping employers identify and implement workplace accommodations
Provide referrals to training programs, educational opportunities, and support services
Maintain consistent and proactive communication with individuals served to track progress and provide ongoing support
Provide support to other agency programs, including Adult/Dislocated-focused initiatives, on an as-needed basis to meet agency goals, support cross-program collaboration, and ensure service continuity
Coordinate and conduct in-school presentations to promote youth employment services
Build relationships with school staff, counselors, and administrators
Attend and contribute to IEP meetings and transition planning
Facilitate summer work experience programming, including recruiting employers/students and overseeing youth placements
Coordinate and facilitate career exploration activities, including job shadowing experiences, worksite tours, and guest speaker events
Collaborate with staff, community stakeholders, and partner organizations to support participant needs and expand available resources
Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, schools, and employers to create job opportunities for individuals served
Identify and promote job opportunities through employer partnerships and workforce development programs
Provide referrals to appropriate community resources, ensuring accuracy and follow-through
Responsible for providing services and meeting with customers in community settings outside of the PA CareerLink ®
Attend and participate in networking events, job fairs, and community outreach programs to strengthen employer and community connections
Maintain accurate and confidential records of client interactions, progress, and services provided
Ensure compliance with workforce development policies, funding requirements, and program reporting standards (e.g., Federal Data Reports, Workforce Development Reports)
Track and report progress toward program performance outcomes
Conduct comprehensive reviews of program plans and services to ensure alignment with goals and compliance requirements
Accurately enter data into workforce management systems in a timely manner
Participate in team meetings, professional development, and community outreach efforts
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or equivalent with 5 years of relevant experience, OR
Associate degree with 3 years of relevant experience, OR
Bachelor's degree in human services, workforce development, education, business, or a related field
Experience in youth services, mentoring, education, or youth-focused programming, including roles in afterschool programs, summer camps, schools, or community organizations that support personal growth, skill development, and engagement among young people
Experience in social services, behavioral health, or case management roles that involve building trust, setting goals, providing guidance, and connecting youth to resources—especially for those facing personal, academic, or employment barriers
Customer service or public-facing roles that require strong communication, active listening, conflict resolution, and relationship-building—particularly in environments where patience, empathy, and cultural competence are essential when working with diverse populations
Training or professional certifications related to youth development, trauma-informed care, peer mentoring, or strengths-based approaches, including CPR/First Aid, Mandated Reporter training, or coursework in adolescent psychology or human services
Ability to build rapport and establish trust with individuals facing employment barriers
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, including public speaking
Empathetic and patient demeanor, with strong active listening skills
Proficiency in developing individualized service and employment plans with actionable steps
Knowledge of workforce development programs, local labor markets, employer needs, and community support services
Strong organizational and time-management skills, including timely follow-up and accurate reporting
Ability to work collaboratively with school staff, administrators, and families
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and data entry/management systems
Ability to pass background checks, including Act 151 Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance, Pennsylvania Criminal History Check, and FBI Fingerprints
A valid driver's license with a clean driving record and dependable transportation for work duties
Access to a working telephone for prompt communication
Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends to attend networking events, career fairs, and outreach activities as needed
