Rapid Response Technician - Top Secret required

General Dynamics Information Technology is seeking a Rapid Response Technician to support ETM activities at the Pentagon. The role entails installing and documenting new or updated Inside Plant cable infrastructure and maintaining telecommunications and network cabling infrastructure.

Responsibilities

Analyzes, administers, and maintains telecommunications and network cabling infrastructure
The Rapid Response Technician is assigned tasks by Coordinators related to service orders and repair activities for Category 6 cabling, Voice over IP networks (VOIP), and fiber optic cabling infrastructure
The technician is responsible for dressing, terminating, and testing cables and components
They should have the ability to work with power tools and ladders
Computer literate with basic Networking Skills
Ability to work effectively with others and communicate with supervisors
Interprets service orders, circuit diagrams, and electrical schematics
Tests, locates, installs, and repairs cabling infrastructure associated with trouble calls, and performs routine maintenance
Verifies work order information and receipt of all necessary equipment and information
Verifies service by testing installed cabling, identifying, correcting, or escalating problems
Well-versed in the use of network cabling test equipment including network testers, copper cable testers, fiber OTDRs, and fiber power meters
Documents network by labeling and routing equipment and cables; recording configuration diagrams and specifications
Maintains network by troubleshooting and repairing outages; testing network back-up procedures; updating documentation
Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned
Participates in special projects as required
Identify, track, and remove abandoned cable, and keep cable neatly tied and bundled while maintaining safety standards
Dress, terminate, and test cables and components including CAT6 and fiber optic cabling
Ability to work with power tools and ladders
Ability to work well with others and communicate with supervisors
Computer literate with basic Networking Skills

Required

Active DoD Top Secret Clearance
Bachelor's Degree in a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work experience
3-5 years of related telecommunications experience
Must be familiar with TIA/EIA Standards and BICSI recommendations on cabling infrastructure
Experience as a MAC Technician - Moves, Adds and Changes in cabling infrastructure, primarily for VIP in the DC Metro area
Ability to communicate effectively with personnel of varying expertise levels
Possess strong customer support skills in a high-visibility environment
Demonstrate problem analysis, problem-solving, attention to detail, and accuracy
Ability and willingness to work after hours when needed, usually 2-5 hours per calendar year
Candidate MUST possess a valid driver's license to operate a government vehicle from the government fleet
Computer literate with basic Networking Skills
Ability to work effectively with others and communicate with supervisors
Ability to work with power tools and ladders
