Vice President of Loan Operations

Responsibilities
Provide executive oversight of all loan operations, setting and executing a clear strategic vision for operational excellence, compliance, and borrower experience
Lead the organization through operational transformation and systems modernization, ensuring staff are equipped and supported through change
Champion a culture of performance, innovation, and mission alignment, balancing efficiency with fairness during borrower engagement
Develop and implement long-term operational strategies that support portfolio growth, risk management, and impact goals
Collaborate with the executive team to align operations with organizational strategy, sustainability goals, and capital deployment objectives
Manage loan servicing and lending operations teams that are responsible for servicing LISC loans, as well as technology, data, reporting, compliance, communications functions including servicing, technology, data, reporting, compliance, and communications
Oversee all servicing and back-office loan servicing operations from loan boarding through payoff, including documentation, recording of disbursements, payment processing, escrows, and collateral management
Coordinate insurance collection and tracking and collateral management and ensure documentation meets internal and investor standards
Ensure operational systems, processes, and staffing align with CDFI standards, funding partner expectations, and regulatory compliance
Lead technology and data initiatives that enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability, including implementation of new servicing systems or integrations
Partner with the Credit and Lending teams to streamline workflows, strengthen internal controls, and improve transparency across the loan lifecycle
Coordinate with Accounting and Treasury teams to ensure seamless disbursement and recording of funds and general ledger reconciliations; interface with internal and external audit teams on document and data requests and process improvements
Ensure consistent data quality, timely reporting, and clear operational metrics for internal management and external stakeholders, including oversight of third-party servicing, participations, and remittances
Analyze portfolio and servicing trends to identify operational risks, forecast performance, and inform continuous improvement
Oversee dashboards, reporting, and key performance indicators that support executive and board-level decision-making
Manage third-party relationships to ensure compliance, ethical standards, and alignment with organizational values
Oversee and manage fidelity to loan servicing policies and procedures and assign and monitor daily workflows
Ensure that all loan data is entered in a timely and accurate manner consistent with loan documentation and subject to quality control standards; oversee management of a daily trial balance report to compare paid receivables to expected payments and a receivables reconciliation tracker for loan receivables and participations
Ensure compliance with all federal and state lending regulations, investor covenants, and CDFI Fund requirements
Oversee data collection and internal and external reporting and performance dashboards to support data-informed decision-making at the executive and board levels
Evaluate lending technology needs and performance
Serve as a thought leader in operational best practices, process improvement, and automation within the CDFI sector
Bring a customer service orientation to all work
Coordinate with other departments to secure financial resources for lending capital and credit enhancement
Oversee compliance for capital sources managed by the Lending department, including reporting obligations
Lead and mentor a team of loan servicing and lending operations professionals, cultivating a collaborative, high-performance culture
Champion professional development, cross-training, and succession planning to ensure operational sustainability
Foster access, transparency, and communication within and across departments to advance organizational cohesion and resilience
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent relevant experience
Minimum 12 years of experience in loan operations, servicing, or asset management, including 7+ years in senior management or executive roles within a CDFI, community lender, or mission-based financial institution
Demonstrated success managing through organizational change, system implementations, or growth transitions
Strong understanding of CDFI operations, loan products (small business, affordable housing, community facilities), and impact measurement
Experience overseeing technology modernization and process improvement initiatives
Knowledge of loan compliance and reporting requirements and experience implementing and managing internal controls
Exceptional communication, analytical, and people leadership skills
Preferred
Advanced degree in business, finance, or community development
