Responsibilities

Establishing processes for US federal and SALT tax reviews for product launches
Assisting the US Head of Tax in building out the local tax function
Owning corporate tax compliance (1120 and other forms) and quarterly estimates
Managing fillings of indirect taxes (e.g., sales tax, WA B&O)
Ensuring tax compliance as a business partner and as a governance function
Managing the provision of accurate and operational tax advice to key stakeholders and business leads
Implementing appropriate tax policies and internal control frameworks
Liaising with external advisors and internal financial controllers
Implementing automated tax reporting software solutions
Managing tax inspections and new tax legislation developments, and ensuring on-time filing of local tax obligations

Qualification

Required

6+ years experience in tax advisory or public accounting within banking, fintech, or a multi-state US online retailer
To be a qualified CPA or lawyer in-house or with a Big 4 (not working solely on litigation)
Extensive experience managing and assessing federal taxes and SALT compliance
Expertise working with the full tax life cycle throughout the year
Experience managing fillings of indirect taxes (e.g., sales tax, WA B&O)
The ability to assess SALT implications of new product launches
Experience with accounting systems and general ledger concepts
Solid independent decision-making and data analysis skills
A project management focus with a thorough approach to getting things done
Awareness and aptitude for staying current with new tax legislation developments

Preferred

Experience with public accounting and state NOLs tracking
Experience managing third-party service providers
Knowledge of tax technology (Avalara, TaxBit, CCH, Thomson Reuters, OneSource)
