The Business Intelligence Intern will support the Indiana State Personnel Department by aiding in the development of impactful Tableau dashboards and data visualizations that drive data-informed decision-making across state agencies.

Responsibilities
Design, develop, and format polished data visualizations (reports and dashboards) to support generated user stories from stakeholders
Assist with maintenance and support of already produced visualizations from permission changes to small change requests
Assist in the evaluation and quality of the data through examination of source systems and data samples
Assist in the creation and maintain documentation such as user and metrics guides, data definition catalog, and business process documentation
Publish workbooks as appropriate to QA
Present data in a fashion that is easy to understand with proper documentation and user testing for successful adoption
Assist Business Analysts with testing and evaluating upgrades to existing dashboards
Look for opportunities to improve current processes or find efficiencies by applying industry best practices as a BI professional
Perform related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Must be currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate with an accredited post-secondary institution and have completed at least one (1) year of undergraduate education
Visual and artistic creative skills
Experience manipulating very large datasets
Experience or knowledge of one or more BI platforms (ex, Tableau, Power BI)
Basic understanding of relational and dimensional databases and data warehousing structures, theories, principles, and practices
Effective communicator and problem solver
Basic analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities
Strong written/oral communication and presentation/interpersonal skills
Resourceful self-starter and highly motivated team player
Preferred
Experience working in government is a plus
Experience using Tableau preferred (Tableau certifications a plus)
SQL coding and troubleshooting skills are a plus
Beginner experience with data modeling, database design, and query performance tuning and optimization
