Staff Accountant
Hawthorne Advertising is a company seeking a Staff Accountant to manage various accounting tasks. The role involves responsibilities such as client invoicing, accounts payable processing, and balance sheet reconciliations while ensuring accuracy and efficiency in accounting operations.

Responsibilities
Enter invoices from agency, production, and digital media vendors into the accounting system
Process bi-weekly accounts payable for agency and production expenses
Process weekly and monthly accounts payable for media expenses
Handle client invoicing on a weekly and monthly basis
Record cash receipts and account transfers on a weekly basis
Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis
Process client reconciliation updates and reconciliation credit memos/invoices monthly and upon requests
Assist with other reconciliations as assigned
Run weekly timesheet and time report audits
Process bi-weekly payroll journal entries
Assist with quarterly manual payroll tax forms using data from Namely
Assist Controller with internal and external audits
Maintain software licensing spreadsheets and coordinate updates with IT
Assist HR Manager with open enrollment and benefits reconciliations
Distribute benefits information and health/wellness program updates
Assist HR Manager with updating company documents as needed
Create and distribute monthly agency newsletter and company-wide announcements
Support HR Manager with agency culture initiatives and coordinating agency training meetings
Engage directly with internal and external clients to provide research support and educational assistance regarding various processes
Analyze accounting processes to identify opportunities for increased efficiency and resource optimization while ensuring accuracy
Collaborate with the Controller to monitor industry and regulatory changes
Participate in the development and documentation of business processes and accounting policies to strengthen internal controls
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
NetSuite general ledger experience required
Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Experience with general ledger accounting and balance sheet reconciliations
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, formatting, data entry)
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage recurring deadlines
Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
High attention to detail and accuracy
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive financial or HR information
Comfortable working in a remote, cross-functional team environment

Preferred
2+ years of relevant accounting experience preferred
