Responsibilities

Assure safety and security compliance, maintain required safety and security training, and makes safety and security an integral part of every task, including taking the necessary steps to stop work if continuing the job is unsafe or compromises security
Assist in preparing, reviewing, and issuing equipment and/or system modification, corrective maintenance, and/or preventative maintenance work packages in accordance with applicable procedures and regulations
Understand the process for preparation of detailed specifications for materials and labor estimates and development of step-by-step instructions for work
Understand the process for preparing and/or reviews efficient and specific instructions for the isolation, containment or de-energizing various mechanical, physical, electrical, chemical and/or radiological systems according to established procedures and regulations
Assist with various functional and administrative activities in conjunction with the primary work control/work package development including, but not limited to, permit development, testing requirements, documentation generation, records management, database information management, retrieval and review, and/or training
Adhere to industry regulatory guidance and governance specific to work control and planning
Ensure all work control results, materials, processes, and final products meet quality specifications and are completed according to established requirements
Analyze time and material requirements for work activity
Track and expedite established priority of work packages
Evaluate processes, programs and procedures for potential improvements

Required

Knowledge of and experience with work control, materials management, and/or mechanical maintenance
Ability to understand and interpret various mechanical and electrical documents, blueprints, drawings, and schematics
Understanding of work hazards, safety practices, operating configuration, and lock-out/tag-out policies and procedures
Experience and demonstrated skill in conducting research, investigating alternative solutions, and recommending solutions on problems affecting work control and planning
Skill in the preparation and presentation of reports
Skill to conceptualize and communicate elements of work control and planning to both technical and non-technical personnel
Ability to utilize and manipulate a computerized work management system in maintaining and tracking work planning activities
Position requires 2 years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation for Work Control Planner 1
Position requires a Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation for Work Control Planner 2
Ability to fully understand work hazards, safety practices, operating configuration, and lock-out/tag-out policies and procedures for Work Control Planner 2
Ability to fully utilize and manipulate a computerized work management system in maintaining and tracking work-planning activities for Work Control Planner 2
Working knowledge of legal requirements and environmental impacts affecting work control and planning for Work Control Planner 2
Full understanding of work control and facility policies, practices, and procedures for Work Control Planner 2

Preferred

Knowledge of the Laboratory's infrastructure and site planning policies, practices, and procedures
Familiar with and or having the understanding of facility support equipment, such as HVAC systems, Compressors, Boilers, and Electrical Distribution systems
Knowledgeable in tracking work activities from conception through completion, preferably in construction management and or facility management industries
Active 'Q' clearance
