Mechanical Engineer Intern – Collection Devices

Zymo Research is looking for a dynamic individual to join our Engineering Team as a Mechanical Engineer Intern. This role supports the design and development of plastic sample collection devices and provides hands-on experience in CAD design, prototyping, and collaboration within a product development environment.

Responsibilities

Create and modify 3D CAD models and drawings for plastic components using SolidWorks or similar tools

Support plastic part design with consideration for manufacturability and assembly

Assist with prototype development, evaluation, and design iteration

Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to support development activities

Maintain accurate design documentation in accordance with internal processes

Qualification

CAD software proficiencyPlastic part designInjection-molded designPrototyping experienceAttention to detailTeam collaboration

Required

Pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field

Proficiency in CAD software

Basic understanding of plastic part design principles

Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a team environment

Preferred

Exposure to injection-molded plastic design or rapid prototyping

Experience in a product development or regulated environment
