Engineer IV (Foundation Engineer)
The South Dakota Department of Transportation is seeking a Foundation Engineer to join their dedicated team. This role involves providing geotechnical recommendations and technical assistance for various infrastructure projects across the state.

Responsibilities
Provide geotechnical recommendations to designers for projects throughout the state to include bridges, buildings, retaining walls, traffic signals, and roadway lighting
Provide technical assistance to field engineers during construction of driven piling, drilled shafts, spread footings, and retaining walls
Travel for site inspections and construction support
Qualification
Required
A bachelor's degree in civil or geological engineering
5 years of geotechnical engineering experience
Professional Engineering License
Knowledge of geotechnical engineering principles (soil mechanics, groundwater, etc.)
Knowledge of South Dakota geology
Skill to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
Skill to operate computers, use Microsoft software, and other related software
Skill to manage multiple projects concurrently
Ability to effectively plan, prioritize work to meet schedules and deadlines
Ability to prepare, interpret, and use engineering plans, maps, specifications, and technical reports
Ability to read and interpret state and federal laws and rules and department standards, policies, and procedures
Ability to organize, analyze, calculate, and evaluate available information and draw upon reasonable conclusions
Ability to provide work direction
