System Engineer, Senior (PMA-271)

Responsibilities
Provides advanced systems engineering support for PMA-271's airborne command, control, and communications (C3) platforms, including the E-6B Mercury. Performs duties in architecting, designing, integrating, and testing aircraft and weapons systems with a focus on mission-critical communication systems and survivability
Applies Mission Systems expertise in areas such as SATCOM, HF Radio, and strategic communications architectures, directly supporting PMA-271's nuclear command and control mission. Leverages a strong communications engineering background to ensure secure, resilient, and interoperable system designs across airborne and ground segments
Recommends improvements in testing equipment and techniques to enhance integration and verification processes
Serves in the role of System Architect, coordinating technical input from NAVAIR subject matter experts and translating that input into actionable technical recommendations for program engineering and program management
Provides ACAT I program experience, supporting high-visibility acquisition programs and ensuring adherence to DoD and NAVAIR systems engineering processes. Interfaces with system or program contractors, vendors, and government representatives regarding technical aspects of assigned programs and projects
Responsible for overseeing the efforts of less senior staff assigned to specific projects ensuring project procedures and controls are followed, managing staffing needs, and leading resolution efforts for technical challenges. Acts as a mentor to junior engineers, providing guidance, sharing expertise, and supporting professional development within the engineering team
Qualification
Required
Active DoD Secret Clearance, required
Bachelor of Arts or Science degree in related discipline
At least ten (10) years of experience in the Systems Engineering supporting DoD aircraft systems, DoD weapons systems, DoD systems or DoD support systems, consisting of the design, development, integration and system testing of computer hardware, computer software, and navigation, sensor and communication subsystems
Communication skills, versatile, flexible and willing to work on various programs/teams
