Director of Special Programs
SAGE is the country’s largest and oldest organization dedicated to improving the lives of LGBTQ+ older people. The Director of Special Programs will oversee various programs aimed at supporting LGBTQ+ older adults, manage staff, and represent the agency at events and conferences.

Responsibilities
Provide principal oversight of designated programs, including the New York City Friendly Visitor Program, SAGEPositive, SAGEVets, SAGETrans, Broward County Friendly Visitor Program, Broward County Care Management Program, Miami-Dade County Care Management Program, and any expansions of similar programs
Supervise department staff, both in and outside of New York City
Work with the Development Department to submit proposals for new and renewing grant funding and to submit annual funder reports
Create and maintain program budgets and deliverables
Ensure that staff within the department are correctly entering program notes into client databases and reporting deliverables
Travel to South Florida 3-4 times annually to meet with staff and community partners and support programming
As necessary, travel to locations outside of New York City for special events as they relate to these programs
Represent the agency and Special Programs at conferences and speaking engagements and in the press
Participate in Director-level meetings
Work closely with the Director of Care Management to ensure collaboration as it pertains to referrals and protocols between the two departments
Work with SAGE’s Senior Director of Supportive Services and Chief Services Officer, and with lobbyists to determine legislative agendas around older LGBTQ+ vets and those living with HIV
Facilitate and/or implement social and support groups pertaining to the department, such as HIV long term survivor support group
Represent the agency by sitting on various New York City planning committees
Work with the Executive Team to create models for additional programming, including work plans, budgets, and program deliverables
Qualification
Required
MSW or relevant education/work experience required; LMSW and SIFI certification strongly preferred
A minimum of 4 years of experience supervising staff
Group facilitation skills and experience
Strong interpersonal skills
Ability to take initiative and work independently as well as part of a team
Ability to make good utilization of supervision
Proficiency in PC computer skills, including database usage
A commitment to the issues, constituency and values of SAGE
Preferred
Substantive knowledge of and/or prior work experience in the aging or LGBTQ+ fields, including working knowledge of history and issues facing marginalized older people, including BIPOC and transgender elders
Capacity and a desire to gain new skills and knowledge to drive innovative programming to Black Indigenous and Communities of Color (BIPOC) and transgender communities
Good organizational and time management skills
Good presentation skills
Fluency (verbal and written) in Spanish
