Machining Fabricator 2 - Journeyman Machinist

Arrowhead Products is seeking a Machining Fabricator 2 - Journeyman Machinist to assist in the assembly, fabrication, and weld preparation of metal ducting systems. The role involves performing close tolerance set-ups of various machining equipment, optimizing CNC programs, and ensuring maximum output while adhering to safety standards.

Responsibilities

Will perform close tolerance set-ups of CNC Lathes/Mills, Conventional Lathes/Mills and other Machine Shop Equipment to obtain maximum work output from machines while holding dimensional tolerances
Will validate and optimize new CNC programs
Will suggest improvements to old CNC programs (i.e. continuous improvement)
Will be capable of starting a tool and completing it to final approval
Will perform grinding of own form tools
Will perform close-tolerance set-up and operation of all necessary equipment such as; tool grinders, surface grinders, drill presses, pedestal grinders, power saws, arbor presses, mills, lathes, rotary table, optical comparator and any other necessary machine shop equipment
Will be responsible for obtaining maximum work output from all machinery & equipment used
Will perform receiving, issuing, checking, recording, storing & performing related functions necessary for control of inventory
Will perform typical layout operations with other work described herein, such as: Layout detail of tools or dies as related to machine or other tool fabrication; layout parts such as raw castings, forging and sheet metal parts to use as a guide in making tool or die
Will perform all fabrication, to exacting tolerances, tools & dies such as: Class “A” jigs and fixtures, drill jigs, check fixtures, dies for sheet metal parts, progressive or compound dies, form and draw dies
Proves dies and tooling and performs rework on the same level of difficulty as other work described herein
Will perform all necessary sequences of operations and complete layout involving rotary tables, compound angles, exacting tolerances, etc
Will maintain and verify records of all tooling location within the area
Will maintain work area and equipment in a clean, orderly, FOD-free fashion and adhere to all Safety standards

Required

HS Diploma or its equivalent; previous experience may be substituted for education requirement

Must be familiar with basic hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, hammers, mallets, etc
Must be able to use standard manufacturing measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, scales, etc
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions; including production control and other production/engineering documentation
Ability to interpret blueprints, work orders and production planning documents
Ability to use standard manufacturing measuring instruments such as calipers, pin calipers, micrometers, tape measures, scales, height gauges, depth gauges, etc
Must be capable of working with tight tolerances such as + or - .001”
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
Ability to perform quality work in a safe and efficient manner
Frequent lifting of up to 35 lbs
Frequent pushing and pulling
Bend, stoop, squat occasionally
Sit, stand and walk frequently
Talk and listen frequently
Occasional use of computers. (Journeyman Machinist & Tool Makers)
Frequent use of computers. (CNC's)
Constant use and motion of hands and arms
