Responsibilities
Tests and inspects optical fiber and sub-cables at various stages during the production process and evaluates data to determine and maintain the quality and reliability of products by performing the following job responsibilities:
Selects optical fiber and sub-cables to be tested based on priorities set by production
Strips optical fiber and sub-cables and uses OTDR testing equipment to test for length, breaks, and attenuation
Observes, measures, and inspects optical fiber and sub-cables for qualities such as wall thickness, diameter, concentricity, print, and color as required per the shop order
Evaluates data to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards
Completes all inspection paperwork specific to this job function
Promotes OCC’s service excellence and quality
Provides excellent service to customers; builds strong relationships and team cohesiveness; focuses on quality and positive solutions; communicates respectfully; demonstrates compassion and understanding in response to customer requests/needs
Champions OCC’s vision and values; complies with policies and procedures, ethical standards, and Code of Conduct
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
Six months of related experience and/or training preferred
Ability to set up, run, and monitor test equipment in a production environment
Demonstrated ability to use tools and measuring devices properly
Ability to read and follow basic instructions
Ability to understand and implement quality procedures
Math and handwriting skills required
Ability to correctly complete all documentation
Ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision
Pays close attention to detail with the ability to complete assignments accurately
Ability to recognize and help resolve problems
Ability to stand and walk regularly
Manual dexterity using hands to finger, handle or feel
Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs
Sight sufficient for significant reading and computer usage
Color vision
Hearing sufficient for communication with coworkers
