Junior/Assistant Engineer - Public Works
The City of Napa is seeking two Junior/Assistant Engineers to support the planning, design, and construction of public works projects. The role involves working in various divisions within the Public Works Department, focusing on construction project management and development engineering.

Responsibilities
Assist with scheduling, budget tracking, contractor oversight, on-site inspections, and contract and project management to support timely, cost-effective, and compliant project delivery
Help ensure adherence to safety standards and local, state, and federal regulations
Responsible for the engineering review and processing of private development applications as well as plan check and coordination of infrastructure construction activities resulting from the development process
Provide administration of the Stormwater Program, Floodplain Management, and assistance to the public with building permits, addressing and general inquiries
Qualification
Required
Technical/Professional Knowledge and Skill in utility engineering
Technology Savvy with recent technology tools and solutions
Managing Work efficiently to complete tasks on time
Quality Orientation with attention to detail
Emotional Intelligence to establish trusting relationships
Project Management skills to design and lead projects
Decision Making abilities to analyze and interpret information
Adaptability to changes in work responsibilities or environment
Preferred
Experience with construction inspection, materials testing or special inspections
Possession of a valid Engineer-in-Training certificate
Benefits
Vacation- New employees can accrue up to 120 hours annually.
Prior Years of Service -Full-time service in a City, County, State, Federal Agency, or Special District may be counted towards vacation accrual tiers at the City of Napa.
