Senior Plant Engineer, Mechanical & Process
Antora is a company that builds and deploys thermal batteries to provide low-cost energy for industrial operations. They are looking for a passionate Mechanical/Process Engineer to optimize their balance of plant systems, develop cost models, and design equipment for thermal energy storage projects.

Responsibilities
Create and own models for equipment, system and plant costs; continuously update models as data is gathered from our constructed projects
Perform engineering trade-off case studies that balance performance, cost, and schedule to drive architectural alignment via quick (spreadsheet) and thorough (model-based) approaches
Work hand-in-hand with other engineering teams (SW/controls, battery engineering, project execution, etc.) at Antora to develop the simplest, lowest-cost, highest performing BOP system
Define and own system process requirements and specifications, including heat & mass balance (HMB), Process Flow Diagrams (PFD), and Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID)
Review cross functional team designs (equipment specs, piping design, etc) to ensure they meet the process requirements
Participate in PHAs, HAZOP, and/or HAZID workshops
Qualification
Required
Bachelors or equivalent in an engineering field (e.g. chemical, mechanical, process, industrial, etc.) and 8+ years' experience in industrial applications engineering (oil & gas, chemicals, power plants, etc.)
Experience designing or specifying industrial mechanical equipment such as: Pressure Vessels, Pumps, Heat Exchangers, Air Coolers, Fans, Tanks, Piping, Valves
Working knowledge of industrial mechanical design codes. ASME Section I and VIII, Div. 1, ASME B31.1 and B31.3, API 650, API 610, TEMA, ASTM
Working knowledge of electrical power distribution systems
Critical thinking and problem solving skills, ability to think about problems from a first-principles perspective
Experience working independently, as well as work in a team-orientated and fast-paced startup-like environments
Proven ability to lead and operate comfortably across many engineering disciplines (e.g. mechanical, electrical, thermal, fluids, optical, controls)
Preferred
Deep engineering experience and intuition, ideally with background in: High-temperature thermal systems, Energy and power conversion, First principle engineering analyses
Use of one or more of AutoCAD, Solidworks, COMSOL, ANSYS, Chemcad, Aspen EDR, HYSYS, HTRI
Holds a PE in a related discipline
