Responsibilities

Applies nursing standards to perform outcome coordinator functions. Promotes holistic understanding of the application of technology to improve clinical workflows and patient care. Provides clinical knowledge to perform high visibility rounding, user group support and coaching of end users. Performs user acceptance testing for system enhancements to ensure adoption and improvement of clinical care delivery. Participates in solution evaluation, tracks, monitors, and enhances usage, develops, and implements action plans. Provides visibility and support of clinical applications systems. May coordinate with other appropriate departments regarding downtime
Performs Educator functions. Provides clinical application system training of end users as needed through the application of clinical expertise and technical skills. Contribute to the implementation of communication and education plans in conjunction with clinical educators and leadership for current staff to ensure changes to the electronic health record are implemented, based knowledge and patient care experience. Utilizes data analytics to support needs-based training. Identifies opportunities for educational opportunities across specialties or venues. Participates in system teams that work on process improvement in electronic health record and clinical application education activities
Performs Consultant and Project Coordinator functions. Maintains on-going user communication and support to ensure user competency and obtain information on usage of the system and workflow concerns through established, regularly scheduled rounding. Collaborates with end-users to help define issues and enhancement opportunities within the electronic health record. Provides project support in conjunction with project leadership for the deployment and support of new and existing IT clinical applications. Possesses excellent critical thinking skills and ability to resolve complex electronic health record issues, analysis of background function, quality measures, and interoperability. Brings clinical expertise in conjunction with operational leaders and all levels of clinical staff to support new and existing IT clinical applications
Performs Advocate functions to ensure technology solutions support patient care standards and outcomes. System and operational collaboration with users, service area leadership, and IT field services to resolve conflicts between workflow and the electronic health record. Proficient at evaluation of complex clinical workflows, how to use them to better support clinical care, and escalation of suggestions for process improvement. Supports staff in the use of existing technology in a manner which promotes maintenance of patient safety and confidentiality and supports facility-specific and system-wide processes. Possesses the ability to lead, influence, and independently manage and assess results of projects or workgroups. Supports all levels of staff and providers across venues and care delivery teams to promotes maintenance of patient safety and confidentiality
Maintains up-to-date knowledge of trends and advances in the field of healthcare IT as well as new developments of electronic health record and associated technologies. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of clinical practices, regulatory standards, and organizational direction. Utilizes this knowledge in supporting users and process teams. Applies evidence-based research methodologies to maintain up-to-date knowledge of trends and advances in the field of healthcare IT. Demonstrates expertise and coordinates documentation and workflow changes in response to evidence-based information
This position must interact with and support all levels of end users throughout the facility or specialty area, including technicians, nurses, therapists, and physicians

Required

Knowledge and experience equivalent to completion of a bachelor's degree in healthcare related field or related business discipline
Active RN license for a clinical position in a practicing state
Three to five years experience working within a complex and diverse health care setting
Proficient in the use of system office applications
Basic understanding of integrated clinical systems
Highly developed interpersonal and critical thinking skills with the ability to prioritize needs rapidly
Ability to convey messages and thoughts clearly to a diverse audience, using both verbal and written mediums
Ability to promote change among large groups of workers
Ability to coordinate information and activities, work under stress of deadlines and frequent interruptions
Analytical problem-solving skills
Maintenance of familiarity with clinical care processes and information technology

Preferred

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
Certification in Nursing Informatics preferred
Additional Related Education And/or Experience Preferred
