Portfolio Associate, Global Credit Finance

Responsibilities

Contribute to growth in the GCF credit financing business for our Pension, Insurance, Asset Manager and Hedge Fund clients
Make recommendations on pursuing new BSL/MM loan financing mandates
Approve or escalate credit assets for inclusion in existing facilities in accordance with established procedures
Provide a view on initial asset marking and monitor a portfolio of loans to ensure marks remain appropriate in accordance with terms of loan documents
Conduct more detailed fundamental credit analysis of higher risk collateral assets
Complete periodic portfolio reviews for existing transactions
Remain current on industry and economic developments to understand potential impact on portfolio loans
Collaborate with internal systems developers and third party partners on the creation and management of technology tools to better identify risk and identify early warning signals within the collateral asset portfolio
Ensure lender data is regularly uploaded to technology tools
Work in the spirit of transparency and collaboration with our partners in Capital Markets Risk Management, Treasury, Accounting, Tax and Legal
Demonstrate a keen understanding of current and developing regulatory issues, as well as CIBC policies, guidelines and procedures
Work effectively within CIBC’s corporate governance practices and policies to ensure that all potential risks are appropriately addressed and that CIBC legal/reputational issues and shareholder objectives are covered

Required

Minimum 2+ years related experience in lender finance, corporate lending, leveraged finance, corporate finance, risk management or credit portfolio management
Working knowledge of leveraged lending and lender finance loan structures and related loan documentation
Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Excel and VBA
Working proficiency in Python and SQL
Superior communication and time management skills
Demonstrated commitment to client satisfaction
Enthusiasm for learning new things and being part of a dynamic, growth-oriented team

Preferred

Familiarity with loan warehousing and CLO structures is an asset
Familiarity with third party vendor products for the lender finance industry is an asset
