GPS/GNSS Responsible Engineer

Responsibilities

Lead the development, procurement, build, and test of simple, reliable, and cost-effective GPS/GNSS solutions that will support our Lunar Permanence vehicle PNT requirements and future navigation roadmap
Deliver flight-ready and qualified GPS/GNSS solutions to multiple vehicle teams
Collaborate in the development of navigation and component hardware requirements from system level specifications with flow downs to subsystem and component levels, and companion verification methods
Perform architecture and hardware solution trades studies
Support the design, fabrication, test and characterization of protype hardware
Support the development and execution of component-level test programs, including characterization, modeling, and integrated on-vehicle testing
Perform and guide testing and analyses of component hardware including laboratory and flight testing, shock/vibration, thermal vacuum, etc. to validate top-level system specifications and requirements, and establish component performance specifications
Support hardware-in-the-loop testing, on-vehicle functional testing, and flight testing
Routinely collaborate with manufacturing operations, supply chain, and other teams within the company to ensure smooth execution of the development, integration, and test efforts

Required

B.S. in Electrical, Mechanical, Physics, or Aerospace Engineering or related areas of study
7+ years of experience in hardware and/or electrical engineering for GPS/GNSS or wireless communications applications
Demonstrated experience in the development, prototyping, and testing of GPS/GNSS solutions for aerospace applications
Experience with GPS/GNSS modeling, simulation, and test tools and equipment
Hands-on experience with GPS/GNSS receiver chips and related hardware
Experience with analytical and scripting tools such as Matlab, LabView, or Python
Demonstrated experience in test and verification of GPS/GNSS solutions or other navigation related components
Experience in product schedule, cost, delivery, and supplier management
Self-starting who thrives in a fast-paced new product development environment
Ability to earn trust and maintain positive and professional relationships
Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred

M.S. in Electrical, Mechanical, Physics, or Aerospace engineering or related areas of study with 10+ years of relevant experience
Full product lifecycle GPS/GNSS solution experience
Deep expertise of GNSS signals from the main GNSS constellations and bands. Experience in deploying and operating GNSS receivers in space
Strong familiarity with RF testing and the ability to operate test equipment such as a network vector analyzer, spectrum analyzer, signal generator, oscilloscope, power meters, and thermal chamber
Direct experience with GPS simulators and associated software
Experience in development of GPS/GNSS solutions for space applications and space environments
Experience with spacecraft vehicle or satellite system integration and test
Detailed knowledge on EEE part selection for space applications
Working knowledge of NASA human spaceflight standards
Experience in leading or supporting technical teams through multiple successful product deliveries
