Responsibilities

Translate complex system requirements into detailed design specifications
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure design aligns with project goals
Evaluate and select high-quality electronic components that meet design specifications and constraints
Conduct thorough research and comparative analysis to optimize cost, performance, and reliability
Create detailed and accurate electronic schematics using industry-standard CAD tools
Ensure schematics are well-documented and adhere to best practices for readability and maintainability
Perform comprehensive worst-case circuit analysis to ensure circuit robustness under extreme conditions
Utilize simulation tools to validate circuit performance across a range of operating conditions
Conduct thorough parts stress analysis to ensure components operate within their rated capabilities
Identify potential failure modes and implement design improvements to mitigate risks
Collaborate with layout engineers to develop PCB layouts that meet design requirements
Ensure optimal component placement, routing, and grounding strategies are employed
Develop comprehensive test plans that cover all functional and non-functional requirements
Define detailed test procedures and acceptance criteria for each test case
Create and review manufacturing documents, including schematics, layouts, and bills of materials
Liaise with manufacturing teams to ensure design intent is accurately translated into production
Bring newly designed boards to life in the lab, ensuring a smooth transition from design to prototype
Debug and troubleshoot issues through systematic analysis and the use of specialized test equipment
Execute test plans in a laboratory setting to verify that boards meet all specified requirements
Document test results and perform root cause analysis on any discrepancies
Support the integration of designed cards into higher-level systems
Develop and execute integration plans to ensure seamless functionality within the larger system architecture

Required

Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or a related field with equivalent experience
A breadth of understanding and expertise in electronics hardware development such as developing sophisticated circuit cards, consumer electronics, wireless devices, or other electronic commercial or aerospace products
Experience crafting and testing high-speed digital, analog, or mixed-signal circuits, encompassing part selection, analysis, simulation, laboratory testing, and troubleshooting
Knowledge of signal-integrity, power, grounding, and general board layout principles
Experience with SoC or Processor/FPGA boards with multiple power domains and clocks
Proficiency in crafting and improving high-speed SerDes interfaces, including MIPI, PCIe, USB, SATA, and similar technologies
Experience with schematic-capture and PCB layout using Altium Designer (preferable) or Cadence OrCAD / Cadence Allegro tool suites
Familiar with many of the following parts and their usage: ADCs, DACs, OpAmps, power supplies (linear, LDO, DC/DC), microcontrollers, processors, volatile memory (DDR), non-volatile memory (NAND, NOR, etc.), and MOSFETs

Preferred

Possessing a Master of Science or equivalent experience in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related fields
Successful candidates typically have 5+ years of experience in building, developing, and testing
Proven understanding of industry-standard communication protocols including Ethernet, and IEEE 1588
Experience leading efforts in collaboration with multi-functional teams for up-screening and qualification of automotive-grade parts for use in space environments
Familiarity with space hardware testing standards and practices for communication systems
