Responsibilities

Analyze data to identify hazards and develop effective risk-mitigation strategies
Conduct workplace safety evaluations, including facility inspections and accident investigations
Oversee the planning and delivery of health and safety programs, including developing training content
Maintain compliance records and analyze performance metrics to optimize safety culture
Collaborate across departments and external agencies to support occupational health and safety program planning
Apply critical thinking to assess workplace hazards and identify compliance gaps

Required

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in occupational health and safety, environmental engineering or a related field
At least five years of progressively responsible experience in administering employee health and safety programs
A valid California Class C driver's license and the ability to maintain insurability under the Agency's vehicle insurance program
Proven ability to lead and collaborate across departments, employees, and external agencies to support occupational health and safety program planning, compliance monitoring, and long-term risk reduction strategies
Extensive experience conducting workplace safety evaluations, including facility inspections, ergonomic assessments, accident investigations, and regulatory audits to inform corrective actions and ensure compliance with OSHA, Cal/OSHA, and Agency standards
Skilled in overseeing the planning and delivery of health and safety programs, including developing training content, coordinating mandatory safety courses, maintaining compliance records, and analyzing performance metrics to optimize safety culture and regulatory adherence
Demonstrated expertise in applying critical thinking and professional judgment to assess workplace hazards, identify compliance gaps, evaluate injury trends, and develop operational recommendations that enhance the sustainability, reliability, and effectiveness of Agency-wide safety initiatives

Preferred

Experience in a public agency
Certified Safety Professional is desired
